Abbas holds a meeting to discuss the implementation of the 100 million health initiative to fight Hepatitis C
Governor of Monofia, Gen. Said Abbas, holds a meeting to discuss the implementation of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi "100 million health" to eliminate Hepatitis C and detect non communicable diseases in the governorate. The meeting was attended by of Dr. Ayman Mokhtar, the Secretary–General, The Heads of Local Government Units, Health, Social Solidarity, Youth & Sports, University of Menoufia, Media Compound of SIS, Viral Viruses Dept., and the director of the Women's Affairs. The Undersecretary of Health explained that the initiative aims at early detection of hepatitis c virus, diabetes, hypertension and obesity for people over 18 in order to make Egypt free of the virus c by 2020 and reduce deaths from non-communicable diseases, which is about 70% of the deaths in Egypt. He added that work teams were set up to implement the initiative as each team consists of doctors, nurses and data entry agent on two shifts of examination and a new website www.stophcv.eg and a hotline 15335 were launched. Dr. Mukhtar said that the campaign will be launched in Menoufia next December targeting the largest number so that Monofiya could be free of virus c and the media campaign will be launched on October 21 to educate citizens about the importance of going to the nearest Health Center to detect virus c. The Governor stressed that this initiative is a golden opportunity for all citizens to check up their health against the diseases targeted by the initiative through early detection, and is a historic initiative because of its vital role in the elimination of the virus c in an unprecedented manner, pointing out the need of coordination and cooperation between all executive agencies in the governorate and make the maximum effort in informing and raising awareness of the people for campaign and the importance of early detection to eliminate virus c.
